So what’s the skinny on Fat Cow? Fat Cow has been providing website hosting services and domain names since 1998. They provide services for personal websites, as well as small to medium size businesses. Their M.O. is keeping it simple and affordable. Fat Cow doesn’t offer as many varieties of hosting as other companies. They offer shared hosting, WordPress blogs, and recently added VPS and dedicated servers. Like I said they keep it simple. They do offer free domain names with hosting purchases, easy to use websites builders (weebly) and WordPress.
They also offer free backup service. This is a great perk and one you often don’t get included with a hosting company that offers very affordable hosting. This is one of the reasons we like them.
Fat Cow offers cost effective hosting solutions for small business, blogs and the such. They allow you to grow in time and offer domain names and email. When you are ready to make your site live, you can then do that.
We give Fat Cow a 6.5 out of 10. From our experience their consistency in uptime, customer service and unlimited hosting have lacked on occasion. Although they market unlimited hosting (meaning you can host an unlimited amount of websites with them, this does not always hold true. There are some factors involved that may make that state untrue. Although setting up a site was a bit of a pain. The time it took for the name servers to propagate was a little lengthy. Their customer service is good and we found them to be helpful when we needed assistance.
What we like about Fat Cow.
They are overall basic and simple. This is great for an easy personal website or blog. They also offer affordable hosting solutions.
We feel that Fat Cow needs to keep up with the times. Focusing on smaller businesses and personal sites is great, as long as it is done well. They seem to be a little dated and with the variety of hosting providers, the competition is real.
