Like we mentioned in our earlier post on WordPress, Most people are purchasing hosting services with the intention of using WordPress. Knowing this, we thought we would inform you on some things to keep in mind when choosing a hosting provider. Though we covered some key elements, we wanted to expand upon what you want to be mindful of.
- Speed – For starters you should be considered with speed, although this is not a huge consideration because most providers offer plenty of speed, there are still those that will slow your website down. Anyone host we cover on globatreview.org will be operate with totally sufficient speed for WordPress. If your shopping around though and come across a hosting provider you have never heard of, just do a quick search to make their server speeds are good enough for what you are trying to do. SiteGround which we will cover in a later posts performs exceptionally well for the monthly rate they offer, so there is really no reason to shop around.
- Customer Service – Despite what many think, there usually comes a point in time where you will need to contact customer service for something. Whether you are new and have basic questions, or perhaps you have an extremely technical question, customer service is there to answer…or at least you hope so. Again many of the hosting providers we mention will have great customer service, and it’s essentially a necessity if they want to continue to stay in business. However customer service varies from company to company. For example some companies do not have a phone line for their customer service and rely entirely on emails and live messaging. For beginners this can be challenging because it’s often times easier to talk your way through a problem, rather than try and type all the small details out. In the event your host has a phone line, you may still find that the time between getting ahold of an agent varies extremely between company to company. A large company like GoDaddy typically has an agent on the phone line for you before it’s smaller competitors.
- Pricing – There is no doubt that you want to spend the least amount of money as possible when choosing a hosting provider, so price is definitely something you will want to consider. The nice thing about hosting especially if you are choosing to host multiple websites is that it is not really that expensive. If you purchase a shared hosting plan you can typically host unlimited websites for one low price. Shared hosting is normally not more than a couple dollars a month extra than a single website plan, and allows you to share hosting with a friend or another business. The price of hosting is usually pretty relative with the exception of some extremely low priced providers. However you will need to keep in mind what’ important to you, because many of the really inexpensive providers will not have customer service agents available by phone. If that’s not a concern than companies like Site Ground offer great speed and security for a low monthly rate.
Again, there are a lot of great options when it comes to hosting these days, so don’t be intimidated by the process. We simply want to make the search a bit easier for you. Check back for future reviews as we help you discover the best hosting providers on the web.
